Frequently asked questions

You'll need to be registered for online banking in Australia and the other countries or regions where you hold accounts.

Log on to HSBC Australia online banking.
Under the 'My banking' menu, go to 'Global View' and select 'Add/remove country'.
Enter your additional security code (if prompted).
Select the country or region you want to link to.
You'll be redirected to that country or region's online banking log on page.
Read and accept the terms.
Once you've logged on, the new country or region will be linked in your Global View.

To move money online:

Log on to online banking or the HSBC mobile banking app.
Go to 'Move money' and select 'Global Transfers'.
Choose the accounts you want to transfer money to and from. Both of these accounts must have the same name, for example 'Jane Lee'.
Select the currency and amount you want to send. You can move up to USD200,000 (or the currency equivalent) a day between your accounts. Some countries and regions may have a maximum limit for inbound payments, so it's important you check this first.
Review all the details and select 'Continue' to confirm your transfer. Global Transfers between HSBC accounts are usually instant in most currencies, but it could take up to 5 working in days in some countries or regions.

For future-dated and recurring international payments:

To set up or cancel future-dated or recurring payments[@exchange-rate-applied-future-dated] in online banking, select 'Manage payments - future payments' in 'Send Money Overseas'.

You can request to cancel any time up to 23:59 (Australia time) on the day before the payment is due to be made.

We can't cancel a payment if you've asked us to make it immediately.

As a Premier customer with HSBC accounts in at least 2 countries or regions, it's free for you to send up to USD200,000 each day using Global Transfers.

However, please keep in mind that while you're able to move up to USD200,000 a day into your Australian accounts, there's a daily limit of USD100,000 to move money out of Australia.
